Description:
Small and slim with greyish-brown general appearance, narrow and moderately long tail, rather short bill. Has brownish-grey upperparts, dull whitish underparts, slate-grey crown (greyer and slightly darker than mantle), and darker lores and ear-coverts (forming diffuse mask). Bill is blackish and legs and feet grey.
Distribution:
Common passage migrant and summer visitor to all the lower valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. Found in open country or near forests rich in dense cover and lower-level foliage, shrub land, plantations with small trees and orchards, at 1500-3000m.
Behavior:
Generally forages in trees and bushes, searching leaves, twigs and bark for insects. Observed systematically to search for food items on tree trunks in manner of treecreeper; also to beat wings in attempt to flush prey. Mostly insectivorous during breeding season. Fruit, seeds, nectar, pollen and barries taken from various plants.
